DNZ with author, Widad
Widad or Linda Delgado is the author to four
Islamic Rose
books. This e-mail interview with Widad was conducted
in 2005.
Haniza : Assalamualaikum Sis Widad. It has been quite sometime that we communicate with each other.
Widad : Wa'Alaykum Salam Sis Haniza! Yes, it is a pleasure to hear from you and know you and
your family are well and children busy with schooling. I am home schooling my 7th grade granddaughter
this year so quite busy with this among other activities. :0
H : That's quite a responsibilty! What are the other things happening in your life now?
W : I have created a Muslim Writers Imprint in affiliation with
my publisher. In a few weeks I will have a new website
just for this. I am helping Muslim authors get published
in the most inexpensive way possible while still get
professional publishing services. I have 2 books in production
by other authors and two manuscripts being prepared for me to
submit for 2 authors. This takes a lot of time, but I also help
the authors with
preparing a marketing plan and format their manuscripts for submission to the publisher.
I have a professional Muslim copyeditor review all manuscripts to ensure they are ready for
publication. If not.. her services are available to help those who need them. I will send the
Anthology information and the website address for Muslim Writers Imprint when I have this information.
H : You've founded a writers group, Islamic Writers Alliance. Is there any latest news about this group?
W : I am very busy with the organization I founded... Islamic Writers Alliance..a professional and
International Muslimah organization for writers and published authors. We began our second year
and we have an Anthology of short stories, poetry, and articles written by 17 member
authors being published at this time. The book title is"Many Voices, One Faith".
H : I've heard that you're helping a sister writer collecting donations for
her operation. Can you elaborate on that?
W : Yes. My dearest friend who is also a published author of children's books, sister
Amatullah Al-Marwani needs a bone marrow transplant in order to live. This is a life or death
situation. I began a drive to collect donations for the minimum $20, 000 she will need for all
expenses the medical insurance won't cover. It is hectic right now with all the work
involved in letting Muslims know about this urgent need. I have attached a copy of the appeal
being circulated.
(N/B Amatullah Al-Marwani has since passed away. She was the author of Zahir and Jamil the Camel
Series. DNZ Bookworld has her books, Hajj and Believe in Allah in our e-bookstore. View them at
http://www.dnzbookworld.com/islamicp2.htm May Allah bless her soul. Ameen.)
H : Is there by any chance your Islamc Rose Books no. 5 coming out soon?
W : No.. I have not completed Book 5... so many urgent matters keeping me from this..but I
intend to finish it and publish this year.. just don't know exactly when. I have 1/2 or more
of the manuscript written. I've also created a quiz for each of my first four books. InshaAllah, I'll mail
them to you soon.
H : Thank you very much sis Widad for spending some time with us. Really appreacite it, considering
your time constraint.
W : You're welcome. I hope your business prospered this past year and I say du'a it will prosper
this year.. My Salaam and hugs.
